FIA WTCR, Macau, Round 10 : Ma Qing Hua returns to Boutsen Ginion Racing for Macau WTCR finale

Ma Qing Hua will return to our team for the final round of the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup at the fabled Macau street circuit on November 17-18.

The 30-year-old from Shanghai will partner Tom Coronel in the Honda Civic Type R TCR that he already raced at the Chinese events at Ningbo and Wuhan earlier in the Autumn.

He takes the place of Tiago Monteiro, who made his comeback to racing after a 14-month injury layoff, but who will not race at Macau as he uses the winter to prepare for a full-time comeback in 2019.

Ma performed impressively at Ningbo and Wuhan; recording a best result of seventh at the latter event.

He competed in the Macau Guia Races on a one-off basis last year and set the fastest lap of the Main Race. He is also a two-time winner in WTCR’s predecessor, the FIA World Touring Car Championship,  a Formula 1 Reserve Driver and a GP2, Formula E and World Rallycross competitor.

Ma Qing Hua said: "I am very happy to return to the WTCR and to race the Honda Civic Type R TCR again. Boutsen Ginion Racing are a strong team and made me feel very welcome in the events I did in China. Having been through that familiarisation period will help me get up-to-speed much more quickly at Macau, as will the fact that this is the first track I’ll have raced the car at this year at which I have prior experience. Together we’ve already finished in the top 10 so the aim is to have a strong weekend and continue the progress shown in Ningbo and Wuhan.”

Olivia Boutsen, Team Manager, said: "We’re very happy to welcome Ma Qing Hua back into the team for Macau. Despite being unfamiliar with us, the car and the circuits in China, he settled in extremely well and did a very good job to show top-10 pace everywhere and take a well-deserved seventh place in Wuhan. This is our first time racing on the streets of Macau, so having two drivers in Ma and Tom who know the circuit, will be a big help to us. Our aim is to use this to finish the season on a high.”
